Phoenix, AZ | April 14th, 2023: Marked;Life’s new single is haunting and powerful. “Lavender Town” features mesmerizing instrumental and vocal performances. The song showcases the band’s signature blend of metalcore and ambience, with lead vocalist Sam Laponis’ uniquely emotive voice soaring over an impressive drum and guitar arrangement. The lyrics are introspective and poetic, exploring themes of addiction and existential despair, Sam explains:
“I wrote this song about self realization of who my past was as a person. Feeling numb and not knowing how to come out of it mentally. It’s a deep story of inner self hatred, continuing to make the same mistakes over and over again without solving the problem. Like an addiction that I didn’t want to get rid of but at the same time it clogs my thoughts and fills me with anxiety. So when I wrote the song it was from a first person perspective of a scratch that can never be itched and knowing it’ll continue.” - Sam Laponis
Marked;Life is a progressive metalcore band from Phoenix, AZ that pushes the limits of normal song structure with weird time signatures and tempo changes. Their new hit single “Just Deaf” debuted on Beheading The Traitor and caught quick attention. They then joined the management of The Dreamer Agency, due to their aggressive instruments and vocal style. Marked;Life started as an idea between the two members Sam Laponis and Caleb Horsley in 2017 while working with a previous producer that Sam had worked with in the past (Daniel Concho). Slowly the small idea grew when traction and interest in the style began to show, then the full band began to form adding Reid Campbell, James Cabeke, and Joe Allie. 2019- 2022 has seen the release of two EPs, two singles, and a new EP being dropped episodically in 2023. Marked;Life strives to keep delivering hard hitting in your face songs that push the limits of the metalcore genre for years to come.
