Emerging act Don Amirio explores tensions in a relationship on chill yet
gritty number “Hooked On,” offering up a layered instrumentation with
R&B and hip-hop undertones that blends rap and vocals.
Weaving a melancholic vibe led by quiet yet emotive vocals, the track
captures the feeling of being hooked to love even when tensions
dominate, drawing from his own relationship in a way that relates to
anyone listening.
Taken off his upcoming project, The STONR Tape, the track which pulls
from a Coop The Truth x Teddi Jones sample mixes feeble vocals,
heavy guitars and gentle beats.
Speaking of the track, he says, “The lyrics were inspired by my current
relationship... We were arguing a lot and almost broke up, but wanted to
work things out. This song captures the feeling of sometimes thinking
things may not be right, yet still feeling "Hooked On" to the other
person.”
Picking up the guitar aged nine and honing his skills beatboxing and
production later on, Don Amirio brings comfort and catharsis to life as he
establishes himself with his soulful artistry.
