Get To Know DaeDreamer

Jay Putty from DaeDreamer took some time to share his thoughts with us.

Do you associate a certain color, smell, or even taste/flavor with certain songs? Definitely. I think what makes music incredible is the color palette sonically you can match it with. Some days when it's bright and sunny, just like a summer candle, the perfect summer song can be yellow, gold, red. Bright and sunny.

What is your favorite key/mode to write in?

I would have to say Gmaj, there’s something about it that allows you to hit all the thematic spectrums.

If you could design the perfect concert line-up, what would it be? You can choose to include yourself or not.

Perfect lineup for me would be prime Freddie Mercury’s Queen, prime Steve Perry’s Journey, John Mayer, and Ed Sheeran

What is your favorite gig you’ve played so far?

As an artist, and writer I’ve been able to do some incredible shows but a highlight I will never forget is when I was 18 I was able to play Warped Tour and that was incredible.

What is your songwriting style?

Over the years it's thankfully evolved, from writing kpop #1 songs, to country, and everything in between. I would say my style is more chameleon than anything now.

Do you have any odd stories about how a song came about?

I've had songs come out that were inspired by stubbing my toe to accidentally eating a scorpion hot sauce.

How/when did you get your start playing music?

When I was younger I used to get bullied a lot. Like shit beat out of you kind of stuff. And I remember my mom was worried about me so she said if you have $50 you can go to Walmart and get anything there. I found one of those cheap first act guitars and I never went back.

Why do you think a specific genre of music speaks to someone over others?

I think it has to do with the environment. Where you’re at in life. How you’re feeling. How it directly correlates with your life.

What is your favorite book/show/movie lately?

I've seen Top Gun Maverick twice and I think it's easily a top 5 all timer.

The music industry evolves so quickly. What do you think is the best way for people to find new music?

Currently, like everyone says, it's tiktok.

If you could change anything about the industry what would it be?

I would merge how in this day in age content and independence rule but labels still would bet on an act and develop it. Trust their gut a little more.

If you could go open for any artist, who would it be?

Currently I'd love to open for Jack Harlow or Ed Sheeran. But if it's all time. Freddie Mercury’s Queen.

Do you have any hobbies outside of music?

I'm a big movie goer. I try to see about 3-4 new movies a week. Turn my brain off and immerse myself in it. And Fortnite.

What first got you into music?

I remember hearing John Mayer’s a room for squares for the first time. Why Georgia. And just being floored.

What's the best piece of advice another musician has given you?

Be authentic. Be consistent. Be grateful.
